Sample report

Here’s what a report looks like.

Every full report follows the same layout, so your team knows where to look. Your free view shows your top potential change order in full, like RFI 1 below, with a preview of other items the free read found.

From a real set

A full report,
start to finish.

Real drawings, shortened for this page. Everything below comes from one real bid set and was checked against its sheets; the full report on this set runs longer. The project, owner, tenant and design team aren’t named.
Cover pagePage 1

We read all 50 sheets in the index and found 13 RFIs to send your design team: 9 conflicts, 1 missing number, and 3 notes that send you to a document that isn’t in the set. The set also calls for 10 submittals, 7 special inspections, 5 long-lead items, 4 owner-furnished items, 7 utility and permit items, and 6 closeout items, each listed below with its sheet. The spec book, and two sheets the drawings refer to, were not part of this read.

Not in this read
The spec book, and two sheets the drawings refer to: S3.1 and A0.3
RFI 1 · Dumpster padConflict
Sheets
C1 to C4 civil general note 2 · C1 note at the dumpster pad · S3.0 dumpster pad detail
C1 to C4 say
“All concrete pavement and dumpster pad to be 6" D.G.A. and 6" 3500 psi concrete with 6x6x6 WWM.”
C1, at the pad
“Concrete dumpster pad shall be 8" 4000 psi concrete with fiber reinforcement with #4 rebar placed 12" o.c. in both directions … placed on 8" of compacted D.G.A.”
S3.0 says
The dumpster pad detail refers to 1/S3.1, a sheet that isn’t in the set.
Question to send
Which section governs the dumpster pad: 6" of 3,500 psi concrete with WWM on 6" of DGA, or 8" of 4,000 psi with fiber and #4 bars at 12" each way on 8" of DGA? And please issue detail 1/S3.1.
Why it matters
Thickness, strength, reinforcing and base all change, so the two sections price differently.
RFI 2 · Trash enclosure bollardsConflict
Sheets
A1.1 enlarged plan · A1.1 bollard detail 22
The plan says
“4" dia. x 4'-0" high concrete filled bollards.”
Detail 22 says
“6" Ø standard stl. pipe … solid fill.”
Question to send
Which bollard is required at the trash enclosure: the 4" concrete-filled bollard on the plan, or the 6" standard steel pipe in detail 22?
RFI 3 · Accessible urinal rim heightConflict
Sheets
P2.0 plumbing fixture schedule · A0.2 accessibility notes
P2.0 says
“ADA compliant 18" rim height.”
A0.2 says
“Urinals shall be wall hung with elongated rim 16-1/2" maximum.”
Question to send
What rim height governs for the accessible urinal: 18" on P2.0, or 16-1/2" maximum on A0.2?
Why it matters
Accessible fixtures are checked at inspection, so the height is easiest to settle before rough-in.
RFI 4 · Utility transformerConflict
Sheets
E1.0 electrical site plan · E4.0 general note A
E1.0 says
“New utility pole with pole mounted transformers and secondary riser to underground. Coordinate with utility company.”
E1.0, note 7
“Provide (2) 4" conduits from utility connection point to new transformer pad. Coordinate and confirm with utility.”
Question to send
Is the new service from pole-mounted transformers (E1.0 and E4.0 note A), or from a transformer on a new pad (E1.0 note 7)?
Why it matters
A pad-mounted transformer adds a pad and conduits, and changes the coordination with the utility.
RFI 5 · Service feeder conductorsConflict
Sheets
E0.1 general notes · E4.0 feeder table
E0.1 says
“All building wiring (THHN/THWN) shall be insulated copper conductors.”
E4.0 says
Feeder F1 is listed steel/aluminum; the other feeders are steel/copper.
Also on E0.1
“Conductors #1/0 and larger are allowed to be aluminum with engineer’s approval.”
Question to send
Is feeder F1 copper or aluminum? If aluminum, is this the engineer’s approval under E0.1?
Why it matters
Copper and aluminum feeders are sized and priced differently.
RFI 6 · Storm water separator dataMissing number
Sheets
C5 separator detail, and its callout on C4
C5 shows
The “site specific data requirements” table is printed with every value blank: water quality flow rate, peak flow rate and its return period, rim elevation and pipe data.
Also on C5
“Engineer of record to confirm actual groundwater elevation.”
Question to send
Please provide the site-specific data for the separator, and the groundwater elevation.
